We would love to see De Gea join Real Madrid – Atletico Madrid

Atletico Madrid’s chief executive director, Miguel Angel Gil Marin says he is hoping that city rivals, Real Madrid rekindle their interest and finally sign Manchester United goalkeeper, David de Gea, as his side would benefit from advertisements.

De Gea has long been linked with a return to Madrid, having moved to United for a British record fee as a goalkeeper in 2011.
He was within minutes of moving to Real Madrid in 2015, only for a part-exchange deal with Keylor Navas to frustrate it as the transfer window ended and De Gea signed a new contract with the Red Devils days later.

Real Madrid are now looking the direction of Chelsea goalkeeper, Thibaut Courtois, another former Atletico player, but Marin hopes interest in De Gea is rekindled as the club would make money from any transfer.
He told Ondo Cero, “I would not feel bad if Madrid signed Courtois, but I would love to have De Gea sign up because we own five per cent of the [sell-on fee].
“Courtois is a great professional and a great guy and I wish him well but I think he should stay at Chelsea.
“It would not be a betrayal [to Atletico], I do not think the fans would feel that way.”
